Welcome to Erin’s Edits
Welcome to my weekly newsletter Erin’s Edits where I will share my favorite fashion, beauty and lifestyle finds as well as insider tips on styling, brand collabs, new product launches, interviews with designers & more. Along with a healthy side of mum life in Florida.
1. Why this, why now
We recently made a big international move from London, UK to Naples, FL to be closer to my parents and to give my kids the kind of lifestyle I so enjoyed growing up in the suburbs of Virginia. Whilst we really miss the exciting pace of the big city (the culture, food and of course our close friends and family), I feel that we made the move at the right time and our kids are now living in a protected little bubble near the beach with their grandparents right down the street. Some might say we are crazy for moving to such a volatile and (dare I say) republican, gun-toting, hurricane-prone state and of course we had our reservations about this too but for the most part we are settling in well and there are so many positives that I will document here.
In addition to being a mum of 3 girls (I have a gorgeous 18 year old step daughter, a strong willed 6 year old and a hilarious 3 year old), I was a fashion buyer in my ‘previous’ life & held senior roles at some of the most well known stores in the world including Harrods, Selfridges, Browns & Avenue 32 (of which I was a co-founder and part owner) as well as being Global Merchandising Director at both Tom Ford & Hunter before starting my own fashion & brand consultancy in 2017.
I have been collecting Vogue magazines since I was 13 years old (which I still have!) and I guess you could say I always knew I would do something in the fashion industry but my path was slightly non-conventional (a story for another newsletter! I have some pretty crazy fashion stories which I promise to share) and although I have wanted to move away from fashion and try something else since having my kids, I do miss it and it’s so deep in my soul that I really can’t imagine what else I would do. So, here we are - which brings me to this Substack and the desire to write more and connect with like-minded people like yourselves.
2. What kind of community am I looking to build?
I am excited to share my passion for all things fashion, beauty and the hilarious and sometimes difficult struggles of navigating mid-life with you all here and to hear your thoughts and suggestions on what direction this should take. At 47, I am now at an age where I really don’t care as much what people think (hooray! moving out of my people pleaser era has been very liberating) so I will be as transparent and honest as I can in these weekly newsletters and hope that you enjoy what I have to say.
I also LOVE discovering and finding new brands and helping you find fabulous products that will make you look and feel more confident. I am that friend that you go to when you need to know what to wear to an event, or what present to get your husband for his birthday, or whether to invest in the Alaia mesh ballet shoes or let that trend pass and buy the cheaper version instead…
I am hoping to find and connect with other wonderful women, mothers, friends, supporters and fashion lovers on here (I am sure like you, instagram just isn’t doing it for me at the moment).
3. The details
I have set myself a challenge to write this column weekly and publish it on Saturdays, but I am a working mum as well so please bear with me as I find my groove.
I am so happy you are along for the ride, thank you for reading and please share and subscribe - the newsletter will remain free while I try to build my audience.
If you want regular daily updates, I also have an instagram ecmullaney and a Shop LTK - just download the Shop LTK app and search for Erins_edits.
